What seems to pass for punk these days does not really sound like punk to me. A lot of it is really slickly produced and follows a pretty straight forward pop-type formula.....two qualities that are really antithetical to what punk was originally all about. That's not to say there aren't a few newer "punk" bands I like, but when I think of punk, I think of bands like The Clash and The Sex Pistols and none of the current bands under the punk banner that I've heard really make me think of the music or the attitude the older bands were all about. So, though there are a few bands I listen to, I don't really think of them as punk, at least not in the classic sense.

The Clash and The Sex Pistols were the "true/real" punk in the punk music scene. I think also "The Misfits" were considered punk and did a great job overall. You're always seeing their logo floating around and their performance and music is TOTALLY AWESOME! Lol I see them back in 06 awesome gig.
