So basically some airborne agent is flipping a switch in people's minds and causing them to kill themselves en masse. We are taken along with the protagonist as he flees this mysterious catastrophe.
Sounds good so far, how could anyone possibly skrew this up, right? Enter Mr. you know who big-shot director. I can suspend my disbelief to overlook the plot and its twist, that is not my issue with this movie. The problem is that it is a movie about people who are killing themselves and I don't even feel bad about it. At first it starts off very good, but as it goes on there is no suspense, surprisingly little gore, and underwhelming characters whom I really didn't care for.
Any fool could have taken this movie and just made it ridiculously gory and we would have a decent flick. Unfortunately the approach taken was more of the we're not going to show you the whole thing, just let your mind fill in the blanks while we give you one detail. At times this was executed well, but mostly it was uninspiring and dull. The one scene in the movie that was gory was actually humorous because of how unrealistic it was (hint man's arms fall off as they are touched by animals).
Maybe others would find some value in this movie, but reading the reviews it seems like my opinion is pretty common. Wait for dvd and spend the $4 to rent it, but don't waste your money on movie tickets.
