This was a great movie, one of the best I have seen in some time. The visuals and storyline were great. The gore in the movie was at a perfect level, not too much or too little. Theres so much I would say but I don't want to spoil the movie for anyone so just go out and watch it. It's definitely worth your time. :beermug: :beermug:

Ya I never ended up going to see it. In fact I might just give up on going to movies altogether the way they have been going recently. Its amazing how difficult it is for people to shut the fuck up for two hours and watch a damn movie But seriously people need to cut the jibba jabba in movie theaters.

They all start yelling at the screen like they are in the movie themselves or as if the actors in the movie can hear them. You want to tell them to shut the fuck up, but at the same time, you don't want to get poked or shot up. Randolph is the fuckin pits.

Good to know about The Mist. I first read the story about 20 years ago and have re-read it several times since. It's probably my favorite SK story and since the first time I read it, I always felt someone NEEDED to make it into a movie. But I was also worried it would get royally fucked up by some nitwit director, so it's good to hear that is apparently not the case.
As far as theater chatter, I agree it's way outta hand. But I don't mind the occassional interaction with the movie (even though the movie/people in it can't hear you or react). The reason I say this is the best movie theater experience I ever had was when I was around 10 years old going to see Return of the Jedi. When Darth Vader picked up the Emperor and tossed him down the air shaft, the whole theater FUCKING EXPLODED. People were literally jumping out of their seats, cheering and clapping, it was crazy. It was like being at a Bruins game when they score or at game 4 when the Sox won the Series or at a concert when the band plays a song everyone is waiting/hoping to hear.
Anyway, it was really cool and I've never seen anything like it in a movie theater since....probably never will.

The DVD comes out today. I haven't seen this yet and for me, as I indicated above, it's been a long time in coming. Can't wait....after waking up at 5:30am to watch the Sox, though, I'm hoping I can stay awake to watch it. haha

what did you end up thinking of the film? I havent bought it yet because I am hoping it comes out on blu-ray, i might netflix burn it though to hold me over. This was my third favorite King movie, but its still a very good movie, GREAT ENDING. as for my favorites (horror that is because obviously shawshank is one of the best films ever made)... 1. Storm of the Century 2. Langoliers 3. The Mist

1. Storm of the Century 2. Langoliers 3. The Mist I really enjoyed it, actually. As for the ending, if you've read the story, you know it's different. I much prefer the ending in the book, but I also understand why it's difficult to end a movie the way the story ends. The film ending was just a kick in the gut (and personally, I think I would have waited a little longer than 2-3 minutes before pulling the trigger, but that's just me). I thought the creatures were great. Also, something I didn't notice until watching it a second time with friends who had not yet seen it is the lack of creepy music at times when any other movie would have had it (i.e., scenes like the drugstore scene, the loading dock and the guy with the rope walking into the mist). To me, this dead silence added a lot to the creepy-ness and surreal quality of the mist as the characters walked or travelled through it. One thing I really didn't like was the lead actor. I thought he was pretty awful, especially when he was portraying grief. When they go back to the house and see his wife all "webbed up" (for lack of a better phrase), his grief looked pretty shallow, phony and brief to the extreme. Also, the pained screaming/moaning at the end was just a little overdone for me. Still, in spite of that one guy's acting, this is one of my favorite King movies, too. This movie was interesting and weird to me. Scared me a bit on certain scenes and was overall creepy. Would not see it again ever....
