I travelled to NOLA from Mass. for one single show and I've also been to the west coast for a string of shows.

Do yourself a favor and try to get to NOLA for their jazz festival. Actually, I think it's called the Food & Heritage Festival now or something like that. Anyway, it's not just jazz. They have around 10 stages with all different styles of music going. The stages are close enough that it's a short walk from one to the next, but far enough apart where it still sounds good. Past the music, you also have an amazing array of arts & crafts and food from all different cultures. It's very much worth the 25-30 hour drive from New England.

Drove a total of nearly 7 hours to get from NH to NJ for Sounds of the Underground...

~2 hours from NH to Plymouth (to get Don)
~5 hours from Plymouth to New Jersey

We drove overnight and were exhausted the next day but I guess it was worth it in the end.

I didn't travel specifically for the gig, but I saw Skinny Puppy in New Orleans...

The farthest I've driven is probably an hour or so

I love going to new venues. It adds another level of interest/excitement to the concert experience for me. Most venues are average, run-of-the-mill places that are almost copy-cats of other venues, but then once in a while you end up in that rare and unique (and sometimes historical) place like Radio City Music Hall, Red Rocks, the Beacon Theater, etc. Also, when you get to other parts of the country, the people going to the shows are also interesting.

I drove from less than five miles from my house to the Palladium once...

Uh... I drove from Worcester to Asbury Park, New Jersey for the New Jersey Metal and Hardcore Festival. I think that was in 2002. I wish the Palladium was more like the place they did this show at because the venue was PERFECT for two stages... hell, three for that matter because they kind of had three...
